SMASH was a nonprofit organization established in Spain, whose main goal is to enrich culturally our society through contemporary classical music. Since 2006 became one of the most important specialized institutions in this area in Spain and then Europe, due to the variety of activities and artistic projects hybridized with the music of nowadays.
 
Bertrand Chavarría-Aldrete was it's Co-Founder and Excecutive/Artistic Director.

:: SMASH ensemble
 
Considered as one of Europe’s finest formations, SMASH ensemble was a “cluster” comprising top musicians for all over the world specialized in contemporary music. The artistic direction developed it’s repertoire and creations towards hybridations with poetry, bunraku puppets, electronic music, philosophy, and a series of pedagogical projects aimed for children. SMASH ensemble performed in Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Russia and Sweden.
 
:: Festival Internacional SMASH de Música Contemporánea
 
Born in Salamanca in 2006, the festival took place for seven consecutive yearly editions and moved in 2013 to San Sebastián-Donostia until 2015. A prestigious communication platform linking philosophy, education and music. Composers like Helmut Lachenmann, José Luis Torá, Gérard Pesson, Ramón Lazkano, Brian Ferneyhough, Manuel Hidalgo or Rebecca Saunders were the main subject of those past editions paired with lecturers like Pilar Carrera, Katy Bernard, Fernando Castro Florez or David Mauas. Ensemble Intercontemporain, Aleph Gitarrenquartett, Proxima Centauri, L’instant Donné and Ensemble Machetes were some of the guest groups that have performed.

The essential element that raised cultural awareness, and creation of new audiences for music with conferences, didactic concerts, master classes and workshops.
